Gastritis is a gastrointestinal disorder that commonly causes epigastric pain, which may impair patients' sleep quality. Uncontrolled pain can lead to sleep disturbances that potentially delay the healing process of the gastric mucosa. This study aimed to determine the relationship between pain intensity and sleep quality among patients with gastritis in the inpatient ward of RSI Sakinah Mojokerto. A quantitative correlational study with a cross-sectional design was conducted. The study population consisted of 82 patients, and 32 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. Pain intensity was assessed using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS), while sleep quality was measured using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). Data were analyzed using the Spearman's rank correlation test. The results showed that most respondents experienced moderate pain (53.1%) and poor sleep quality (68.8%). A significant positive correlation was found between pain intensity and sleep quality (p < 0.001; r = 0.662). It was concluded that higher pain intensity was associated with poorer sleep quality among patients with gastritis. Therefore, optimal pain management is essential to improve sleep quality and promote patient recovery.
